dc.description.abstract | The study analyzes the impact of parents' health shocks, and natural disasters on children's decision to drop out of school. The study is conducted based on data extracted from the 2016 Household Living Standard Survey (VHLSS) dataset and using the Multinomial Logistic regression model. Research results show that the mother's illness reduces the time spent in school and increases the time spent in income-generating work in children, in addition, the mother's illness also increases the number of time children spends working. chores for the mother. Whereas paternal illness has a relative impact on children and especially affects only male children and does not affect female children, this suggests that the distribution of adult time and children are affected by traditional gender roles. Negative shocks to household labor supply can lead to cuts in household welfare and rural Vietnamese families' coping strategies to these shocks are likely to result. effects on children. In practical terms, public subsidies or health insurance programs for households living in rural areas and especially where natural disasters are frequent can help families with low-income families. Getting sick with low-cost medical care is essential. This helps to increase children's school attendance and decrease their employment rates in the short and long term. | en_US |
