dc.description.abstract | The utilization of condoms is recognized as the most potent behavioral strategy in preventing HIV transmission and unintended pregnancies. They act as an impenetrable barrier, effectively preventing bodily fluids that may contain HIV from coming into direct contact with another person during sexual intercourse, thereby significantly reducing the risk of transmission. Numerous studies have confirmed that condoms are not only effective against HIV, but they also provide protection against a variety of viruses and even the smallest pathogens. This highlights the versatility and robustness of condoms as a protective measure. When used consistently and correctly, condoms provide an ongoing defense, actively preventing viruses from entering the body. Lastly, condoms offer comprehensive protection by not only reducing the risk of HIV transmission but also preventing the spread of other sexually transmitted infections and simultaneously preventing unintended pregnancies. Despite this, the consistency of condom use among adolescents remains a concern. The decision-making processes that adolescents undergo regarding condom use could offer valuable insights that could aid in addressing numerous issues associated with sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Consequently, this study sought to delve into the factors that shape the decisions of adolescents in Ho Chi Minh City when it comes to purchasing condoms. By understanding these influences, we can develop more effective strategies to promote consistent condom use and ultimately improve sexual and reproductive health among this population. In this study, the primary data was gathered from survey questionnaires completed by 232 Vietnamese individuals aged from 11 to 28. The research team employed a comprehensive suite of data analysis techniques to interpret the collected data. These included Outer Loading analysis, scale reliability analysis using Cronbach’s Alpha and Composite reliability, and the calculation of the Average Extracted Variance (AVE). The discriminant value was determined through the Heterotrait-Monotrait (HTMT) ratio. The structural model was evaluated using the Variance Inflation Factor (VIF), R-squared (R2 ), and f-squared (f2 ) coefficients. Lastly, regression analysis was utilized to test the model and the proposed hypotheses. The research proposes and analyzes the impact of 8 factors: (1) Attitude, (2) Perceived Behavioral Control, (3) Subjective Norms, (4) Embarrassment about Negotiation, (5) Information regarding HIV/AIDS, (6) Comfort in purchasing condoms by Gender, (7) Self Efficacy. The study also points out areas for future research. Based on the results, the research team has formulated a set of recommendations and managerial implications, we provide recommendations for condom businesses to enhance their operations and effectiveness | en_US |
