Ueh students’intention of postgraduate programs at Ueh: sustainable development strategies in accordance with united nations’sustainable goal 4

Abstract

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2030 Agenda adopted by the United Nations have been nationalized and implemented in Vietnam. One of the priorities of the country in general and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, in particular, is to provide quality education services for sustainable development. In that context, this article aims to examine the implementation of SDG 4 (Quality Education) through a survey of UEH students who intend to pursue Postgraduate Education at UEH. With the advantage of having access to a wide range of UEH students with different academic backgrounds, this study provides a detailed assessment of the relationship between SDG 4 at UEH and its undergraduate intention of Postgraduate Education. In addition, this study uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to propose 5 affecting factors, including The school’s interest, Mode of conveying information, Education quality, Educational environment, and Job opportunity. The study also concludes the barriers to the implementation of SDG 4 to boost the ratio of Postgraduate Education participation of UEH undergraduate intention. The contributions of this research can help UEH university to establish more complete strategies and policies toward sustainable development in education for undergraduates. Detailed discussions and future research directions were also presented at the end of this research.
