Abstract: | At UEH University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, blended teaching, which combines online and traditional classroom teaching, has recently been implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to improve the quality of online learning, this paper aims to modify coursebook tasks in accordance with Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) in the virtual classroom. These tasks focus on meaning-centered communication based on real-life situations, particularly for business purposes. This study took place over two semesters and lasted for six months, and involved 80 freshmen from the high-quality classes. The students were asked to complete real-life case studies using MS Teams, Google Meet, Zoom and other online applications. A pre-test and post-test were conducted to assess the learning outcomes, and the teacher monitored the students' learning experiences. The results brought numerous benefits to the students, such as increased motivation and improved online performance. They were more engaged during the course, and the majority of them showed higher grades after the training. |
